Stortorget var länge Stockholms centrum för handel, men är också känt för Stockholms blodbad 1520 då unionskungen Kristian II avrättade 82 personer, inklusive biskopar och adelsmän, vilket ledde till det svenska upproret och Gustav Vasas belägring av Stockholm.

Old town alleys

Riddarholmen

Riddarholmen is a small island in central Stockholm, known for its historical significance and impressive architecture. Here you will find Riddarholm Church, one of the city's oldest buildings and a royal burial ground. The island is surrounded by beautiful palaces from the Great Power era and offers a fantastic view of Lake Mälaren. Stortorget was long Stockholm's center of commerce, but is also known for the Stockholm Bloodbath of 1520 when the Union King Christian II executed 82 people, including bishops and nobles, which led to the Swedish uprising and Gustav Vasa's siege of Stockholm.
